After living with two wonderful furry friends for 23 years, it was just not going to be easy to not have a dog in the family. We lost Charlie after 15 years and the last 8 years we had with Toto were special. Dogs have empathy and Toto was great at being with Jeni when she was injured and not feeling well. Toto was a mixed breed, mostly Cairn terrier which was why she as named Toto after the Wizard of Oz dog. That is why in October 2023 we aquired a Cairn terrier puppy. Her name is Cari and she was 4 1/2 months old. Cari could never replace Toto, but she certainly filled a large empty space in our lives.
She is now a member of the family. She is already making life easier on us senior citizens.

So Christmas has come and gone and 2024 is upon us with Cari almost 7 months old. Someone said that having a puppy in your seventies keeps you young, I think it just helps keep you tired, but it is fun.
And now it is the end of August 2024. Toto will have been gone 1 year labor day. And, our “puppy” has really grown up. She is now a full leged member of the family. It would have been very hard to have gone on the last year without Cari since Toto died. She is worth all of the puppy training she, and I, have gone through.
