Winlink is now the preferred method of communication for traffic into and out of the EOC, or MERT. The local ARES group is pushing it also. So, it’s time for me to “get with the program”.

I have 2 ICOM 51 HT’s that I use to hit the KK4DFC repeater that is less than a mile away (as the crow flies) and on my ZUMspots. I even have the original blue DV Dongle in my Go kit. The ICOM 51’s also work fine with D-Rats.

I still have my ICOM 5100 as my base station.

I have a go kit with a Yaesu FT-70DR HT and a Signalink for Winlink. I haven’t given up on D-Star and D-Rats, but I am Winlink ready.

Winlink is a good thing for all to have, at least the Winlink for the internet. If you don’t have it, get it.

I am going to set up a Winlink bridge at w9cha-10 soon. Check on for more
